Enderby Advocates to the Province
It may be the holiday season, but your General Manager is hard at work for Enderby business, having recently attended a multi-hour meeting with Premier John Horgan, his Executive Council and members of the provincial and federal business community. Following a very earnest conversation with Premier Horgan about the continued challenges facing rural BC, the meeting focused on an in-depth Q & A with Ministers such as
Melanie Mark, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Sport;
Murray Rankin, Minister of Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation;
Bruce Ralston, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation;
Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery & Innovation;
Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation & Infrastructure
and others!
Questions were asked regarding continued support of arts, culture and tourism through the continuing pandemic, ability to support indigenous communities to train, retrain, develop entrepreneurial enterprise and how we can reach new synergies as a community; questions about environmental reclamation, green energy solutions and diversifying the forest and mining industries; questions about road and bridge maintenance; and last but not least, the continued provincial support of workers and small businesses as the economy struggles to find its new footing in the post-COVID-19 world.
I am pleased to announce that good relationships were formed as a result of this meeting, which will be used to good advantage for our citizens, business owners and workers in the next term of John Horgan’s NDP government.
